Coppell Home School Association desires to be Christ centered, doing all things in a manner which honors God and brings glory to His name by upholding biblical principles and Christian ideals. We believe there is one God eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit. We believe the Bible to be inspired by God, to be infalible, and to be the supreme and final authority for all matters of faith and daily living. While we recognize differences of thought on doctrinal positions, we believe in spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Please note that CHSA stands firm on our Statement of Faith.

FIELD TRIP GUIDELINES

1. Reservations for a field trip and payment of any fees must be made by the deadline specified in the newsletter.

2. Each parent is responsible for the conduct of their children. Arrange with another parent to supervise your child if you cannot be present. YOU are responsible!

3. As stated in Section III, Paragraph 6 of the CHSA Bylaws: “The Field Trip Coordinator may, with the approval of the Committee, allow members to invite adult guests and their children to attend field trips.” Nonmembers will not be allowed without their parent(s).

4. Each parent is responsible to prepare their child for the field trip. Children should understand the importance of making a good impression; therefore, when attending field trips, please dress your children appropriately. Remember we may be the only contact some people ever have with home schoolers. Let’s leave a good impression with them.

5. Make sure children use the restroom before the field trip and upon arrival.

6. If you are unable to attend, cancel your reservations with the coordinator.

7. Notify the coordinator in advance, if you will not be traveling with the group, and be at the field trip location early so as not to delay the others. Being on time is extremely important, as it shows our respect for others. Promptness also leaves a good impression.

8. Each field trip is intended for a specific age group. Adherence to these guidelines will make the field trip more beneficial to those attending. Exceptions should be approved by the coordinator in advance.

P. E. GUIDELINES

1. All participants of the P. E. classes must be members of the Coppell Homeschool Association.

2. In general, no fees are charged. However, occasionally a nominal fee may be required for use of a facility. The sessions are led by CHSA volunteers who wish to provide a fun atmosphere for the children while they enjoy recreational physical education.

3. P. E. classes are determined by interest and availability of facilities. Typically, there will be 3 sessions planned each year; the fall session lasting 6-8 weeks, the winter session lasting 4-6 weeks, and the spring session lasting 4-6 weeks. In addition, there is a “Family Field Day” planned each April.

4. Each parent is ultimately responsible for their child’s behavior. If there is a behavioral problem, the parent will be notified and asked to attend class with their child for the rest of the session.

5. Classes will begin promptly at the scheduled time. For your child’s safety and enjoyment, please arrive 5 minutes before class begins.

6. A parent will be responsible to help somewhere in the P. E. session. Parents will be assigned areas to help in at the beginning of each session.

7. Parents are required to attend every week with their children for the Presidential Fitness session.

We have a new opportunity this year for moms and daughters ages 5-12 (The moms can be older) Also preschool girls ages 3-4 can attend if an older sister is involved.
* We will be using the book Just Mom and Me Having Tea by Mary Murray.

* Moms will do the Bible studies and some of the mother/ daughter activities in the book BEFORE the monthly tea party.

* We will have a monthly tea party. Each party has a theme (Formal, Garden, Rainbow, Teddy Bear, etc.) and helps us emphasize each month’s Bible study (God Made me Special, Friendship, Family Matters, Loving God’s Word etc.)

* Tea parties will be on the 3rd or 4th Thursday of each month–Sept.- Nov. and Jan. – April.

* Moms will take turns hosting/ co-hosting, planning activities, and planning the menu / bringing the treats.

* I have ordered books and they will be available around Sept. 7. The cost is $10. I only ordered 10. You can also procure your own.
Those interested in “Mom and Me Having Tea” will need to sign up (by email) for a month to host / help, and also pick up a book by SEPTEMBER 10.

In addition, if anyone, including a teen, wants to organize social activities monthly for our homeschooled teens, you may have several takers. Right now there is an honor society for the high schoolers, but not a social outlet per se.

Another idea which has come to my attention is a mentoring program for our new homeschoolers. We would like to pair up new homeschoolers ( 1st -3rd year) with willing veterans (4th year and beyond) for one on one mentoring in homeschooling. I will announce this at our meeting in September, but we would also love to have both mentors and new home schoolers express their interest by email to Rhonda at veteranmama@yahoo.com. These pairs can contact each other, ask/ answer questions, meet together, etc. This would be an informal relationship, but the mentor needs to be serious about being available to help the new homeschooler with their questions, etc. I just wanted to make this available, so please take advantage if you would like to do this.
